In the Beginning...

I've wanted to write more and be more creative. Writing, for me, is my favorite creative outlet, but I do it so rarely for fun and pleasure. This blog is an endeavor to flex those writing muscles more often.

But, it's also more like a digital book of shadows. My journal of witchy thoughts. My exploration of my spirituality. 

So why a blog? That all sounds pretty personal and a blog is so public. It is, but I am also someone who for a long time has missed the connection and community aspect of spirituality...and yet I am an introvert. As a kid, the best way for me to retreat was to journal or read. I would have probably been doomed to being a nerdy loner forever if not for the internet, so in a way, a blog is a perfect medium for me. I get to treat it like a journal and creative outpouring, and if I get to connect in some small way with friends, family, other like-minded travelers then it's that much richer for me.

I plan to explore some personal stuff here as a way of exploring how I came to the path I am on now, but mostly reflective pieces (I hope) that might be of interest to others.

Welcome! If anything I post here is a point of resonance for you reader, I am glad to know I am not alone.

I feel like I need to start this post with a disclaimer. Tarot Things: Virgo's Cards

So with the full moon in Virgo it got me thinking about the energy we can expect at this time. Virgo is represented in tarot by two cards.  The major arcana card of The Hermit, and in the minor arcana as the Eight of Pentacles. I love the Hermit. But I am an introvert so it's no surprise. To me, the Hermit represents all that is good about being alone. A chance for solitude and quiet. It's a reminder to reflect, and also that sometimes we need to withdraw to quiet the noise, so we can hear our own thoughts. I also see him as a reminder that it is within those quiet spaces where we can realize we have the answer inside of us. Stop seeking outside enlightenment or distraction. With enough quiet time and space to breathe, you can seek out the answer within yourself. It was there all along. 8 of Pentacles is a great card too. Florence: Forgiving our Mothers

Today is my great-grandmother Florence's birthday. She's not alive to celebrate, she died well before I was born so I know very little about her. My last post was about healing from my mommy issues and that a large part of that was realizing my mom had mommy issues...as did her mother. So in this healing process, it felt important to know more about who she was. No one has any pictures of her hanging up, and didn't when I was a kid, but pictures of her do exist in the dusty old albums of our family so I went on a hunt to find some. I like this one. She looks like a great-grandma, and those glasses are fantastic. My family loves telling stories of cherished family memories, a majority of them feature people falling down come to think of it, but man do we have some good ones! Ones about family pet heroics.
